Vietnamese Northern Dialect: Glide+Vowel Sequences
Female speaker

The only prevocalic glide in Vietnamese is /w/ . Note the difference between prevocalic /w/ + /a/ and the parellel diphthong, /uo/ . In the diphthong, the two components are pronounced with the same strength. In the Glide+Vowel sequence, the second component (i.e. the vowel) is pronounced with more strength.
